Well, it depends. If you want to keep the Plasma pistol and powers sword in decent condition, I use a sharp crafting knife. This can be dangerous though!!! One slip of the knife and your down to the hospital....
Anyway, another method is to snip most of the weapons off with a those clippers. Then file off the remaining metal until you reach what you want to keep (e.g. the hand).
