well the absolute bare minimum for a combat regiment is 20 (5x4) giving you max combat resolution rank bonus, but if you take even 1 casualty you start to loose static combat resolution. with this in mind 25-30 is a better number. swordsmen are the best infantry in the empire core as they benefit from 4+ save in combat and higher ws and i values. give 'em a detatchment of either 10 halbardiers (for high toughness foes) or 10 malitia (for low toughness hoards). ranged detatchments should be smaller, 5 being about right. |
