well, if you don't mind stripping any paint jobs, try soaking the model in pinesol for a couple of days! stuff will fall apart left, right and center as you scrub off the paint...
other than that, you could always try carefully & gently torquing the peices you want seperated, provided you didn't use alot of glue joining them.
