I just thought up this and it's kinda half-baked but tell me what you think anyway.
Your facing a well balanced army with stuff you don't want to reach your lines at all costs (Elector count on Griffon)
, but there's plenty of enemy missile troops and cannons you need to take care of too...
Give a Thane a rune of brotherhood and attatch him to a unit of about 15 Miners with full command and a steam drill.
The steam drill will ensure the unit shows up early in the game.
Deploy the miners directly behind your enemies gun lines in a wide-face formation so you could possibly get two or even three enemy units in a rear charge.
Then when you've started wreaking havoc you can detatch the Thane and send him after the crews of unsuspecting war machines.
