hmm...for me, it's the commander/chapter master.
pros:
i love the customizability of SM commanders and chapter masters. i use one of them myself and i am about to model a second one. the ability to carry any weapon in the marine's armoury allows him massive flexibility, customizability [is that a word? haha] and "fluffability" all things i love about the game.
also, it's not difficult to model up a suitably ornate/cool looking chapter master or commander, and the great assortment of neat wargear and things he can have just makes him cooler. that's just my thought :]
cons: some weapons it's just not that smart to get, and getting a bit too zealous in protecting your precious HQ becomes downright pricey sometimes. as a result i don't even have artificer armor on my HQ, a pair of claws. :] for fluff reasons of course, but i also rely on my command squad to soak up damage instead XD
