ah you SHOULDNT let them, but then there are the deep striking fusion teams, drop troop hardened veterans/sentinals, and all sorts of nasty things that can (and easily will) get around your flank. monoliths are A14 all around
as for the points cost, liths are much more efficiant.
an average LRBT will cost 165 points.
a demolisher-175
variants will be between 150-200
now you cant discribe each of these tanks with the same brush, as they do many differant things. a demolisher you want charging right up the front lines to rip out their center, while normal russ' you want in more of a support fire role.
also, all russ' are anti-infantry only. you CAN use them as anti tank, but they wont be as effective. exterminators, conquerers, demolishers, and normal battle tanks are all pretty much the same tank but with different weapons.
you say for the same points as a monolith, you can get a russ and a heavy weapons platoon. wrong. a monolith only costs about 60 points more than a russ, depending on the upgrades you give it. you can get a HWP for 60 points, but you will only have 1-2 weapons teams, making it not very effective at all for its cost.
a russ and HWP have very defined roles, but a monolith is also extremly versitile, as i said in my earlier post. transportation, anti-tank, and anti-vehicle are all there. btw, its also cheaper then a land raider. |
