Akuzio was reading his "Guardmens Uplifting Primer" while listining to the ships vox when he heard, amidst much static, "...Inqui....Ze....the bridge...........crew.....dead, I am in...." and the channel dissolved into static.
"By the Throne!" Akuzio grabbed his fathers power sword and, kissing it briefly, holstered it. he also snatched a belt of grenades and sprinted off toward the bridge. as he neared, he saw a stormtrooper squad down the corridor storming the bridge. as he neared, he paused.briefly to catch his breath, he also plunged into the gloom.
The cultists ringed the upper floor of the bridge. the stormtroopers crouched behind banks of machines and at the floor of the stairs shooting pot-shots at.....his men! He realized this with a startled gasp as they started to notice him. men whom he had trained since they had joined the 62nd, wide eyed conscripts, sneered and shot at him. diving behind the closest cover. down the row of command machines, he saw Erundal and his medic tending to Inquisitor Zen. dashing between the machines, Akuzio joined them.
Zen spat at him "these are your men Akuzio, dam your eyes. I told you to get order them to quarters!"
"sorry sir, but these are not my men. i do not know these creatures. let us remove these insults to the emporer from your sight."
he ended the statement by jumping up and emptying his pistol clip into a traitor. |
