There was a hush for a moment, and the Sororitas yelled with the vengance of the valkeries and let loose with everything they had. The deamons armour struggled under the extreme firepower, and he brought his axe down on the nearest target, the immolator Corpo Santo. It cleaved the front end in two and slammed into the heavy flamer turrent. The sisters inside leapt out before the promethium detonated. With its axe stuck in the heavy front armour, he simply lifted the entire tank with one hand! The fuel and flamer-tanks dripped their explosive liquids onto the fel beast.
Malekai climbed onto the deamons back, swearing an oath to avenge Briana, lifted his thunder hammer and smashed it down on the stake which still held in the Bloothirsters flesh.
Its eyes widended as the stake ground in deeper. With a terrible scream, it dropped its whip, axe, and attached tank. The weapons dissolved into greasy smoke and the Corpo Santo, rent and smoking, shattered the surface of the courtyard. The stake generated a holy energy that was baneful to deamons. Again, Malekai smashed his hammer down on the iron stake, driving it yet deeper. Lighting shot from the deamons eyes and mouth, igniting the volotile chemicals from the wrecked immolator. Flames ingulfed the deamon and the inquisitor, but Malekai strove on. The Bloodthirster struggled to get the human off of its back, but the deamons host body was destroyed. It howled in pain and rage, and Malekai drove the stake a third time and it burst through the brass chestpeice! The tip punched the center of the symbol of khorne emblazoned on the breastplate.
The traitor PDF forces, seeing their acsended leader vanquished, because to back up and soon broke. The avenging sisters followed and the rout turned into a massacre as the fleeing traitors were butchered by the swift fire of the Order of the Ardent Soul.
Malekai dropped to the ground and struggled to quench the terrible flames. Several sisters ran over to assist and covered him with their cloaks. Soon, he was safe. His power armour was deeply scratched from were the deamon had tried to pry him off, and his armour, cloak, and most of his long hair and face had been charred. He huddled on the ground, struggeling to rise and see the Bloodthirster.
The deamon was in its death throes. It layed in the center of a crater of shattered stone. Repentia lay scattered around him like leaves, almost all had fallen.
The demaon itself, however, had fallen on its back. The iron stake punchering its chest Its torso and head horribly burned, and vicious wounds dealt by the Repentia. It convulsed, and its diamond nails gouged deep stratches in the surface. The greasy smoke that came from banished deamons now rose from him. the Bloodthirster shrank, and was soon obscured from view in a dark cloud.
Malekai rose, and everything around him seemed a blur. He limped slowly over to the pile of rubble that contained the fallen cannoness. He struggled to move the stones covering her. Several sisters laboured beside him. Soon, she was uncovered. They lifted her out and removed her helmet.
“By the emporer. She lives! Briana is alive!” yelled Katrina. She had battled a bloodthirster and lost. She had breached a wall with her body and had been buried by half a ton of masonry, and yes she lived. Her armour had been through hell and back. Her sword arm had been under a huge block, and her elbow, forearm, and hand were smashed beyond recognition. Several arms were also broken, and dozens of other wounds from the deamons terrible fury just as horrendous showed. They rushed her to the command post’s medical center and tried to remove her armour. However, they were so horrendous that they were forced to cut it off in several places.
Malekai also soon succumbed to his wounds and exhaustion, and Katrina took command, waiting for the next thrust. No doubt Crot would come to crush this stubborn defense personally.
An hour passed. Suddanly, the sky lit up with dozens of explosions. “What is that?” wondered Katrina.
“A space battle? Perhaps the Astropaths message got through!” exclaimed another Sister.
Soon, above the hive, thunderhawks appeared! They were swarmed by chaos Talon fighters, and several fell, flaming, to the ground. They held their own, and navy Lightnings soon came to their aid. The tide in the skies turned, and the remaining Talons fled back to their own ships high in space.
“Everyone, out of the courtyard!” yelled Katrina. She saw what looked like comets plummeting toward the spire. As the neared, she saw they were teardrop shaped drop pods. Stern thrusters fired, and their progress slowed and the online computers adjusted and came closely together, and slammed into the courtyard. The sisters gathered around, and the hatches exploded outward.
Space marines. A man in jet black armour and a skull mask stepped out, weilding a flickering mace and a plasma pistol. He removed his chaplains helm and rubbed his crew cut hair. In a deep baritone, he introduced himself. “I am Master of Sanctity Mortimer, headquarters, of the Revilers chapter. Inquisitor Malekai has sent for assistance, and we have arrived. May I speak with him?” behind him, marines in the same black armour gathered around. The other drop pods also opened, and out stepped two more squads of marines, five terminators wrapped in sheets of ceramite and plasteel. They weilded huge thunderhammers with shafts wider then the biggest sororitas’ arm.
The final pod opened, and out stepped, a collective gasp from the sisters, an ancient. 5 meters tall, weilding tank busting duel lascannons and a terrible assault cannon. He took two steps out, shattering the long-suffering courtyard cobblestones. “Greetings young amazons.” It said in a mechanical voice, “I am venerable brother Krothim. We are here to orginize your evacuation from these doomed streets.” With that, he started orginizing the marines into a perimiter defense.
“Please, bring me to the Inquisitor. I must be brought to speed on the situation on the ground.” Said chaplain Mortimer.
Katrina stepped forward and said gravely “The inquisitor is hurt and unconcious. Our cannoness, Briana, is extremely wounded and close to death. Both are out of action after our battle with the traitor PDF forces. How such scum could summon a Bloodthirster is beyond…”
“Wait, a Bloodthirster? A Bloodthirster!?! This more serious then we thought. It’s a wonder you managed to destroy the beast! I assume, then, that you are in charge for now?”
“Yes,” said Katrina “And we have been in constant fighting since they arrived, almost a month ago. What my sisters and I need right now is some time for prayer, food…and sleep.”
“Of course. I first must adress your congregation.” Said Mortimer. He turned to the rest of the sisters, and continued; “there was a communications blackout from the cursed traitors interferance. You all know the situation on the ground, but the rest of the hives and my chapter in space knows nothing of it. For now, I must see what resources you have and how we can evacuate you all. Katrina, take your charges. I will go to the chapel and see the Inquisitor and the Cannoness.”
Mortimer looked around the ruined courtyard, and inspected the rest of the spire. He saw the ruined large landing pad ****her down, wreckage and hundreds of bodies smashed around the lower levels of the spire. The smaller landing pad in the back of the chapel had no chance of carrying a a thunderhawk. Was no way they can land heavier equipment or orginize an evacuation from there. It seemed that any marines landing on the spire are on a one way trip in a drop pod.
