I think it'll work quite well! I'm gonna begin work on them as soon as i've finished my 1,500pts Space Marines, which won't be long. Only about 3 squads left to paint and a Dreadnought to buy. As for the Chariots idea, we could use the (Whatever it's called where they stand on the chariot) part for the head of the Sentinel, and the legs of the Sentinel.. for, well, the legs. Not sure how it'd look but we could always give it a try! =]
