yeah gw brushes come to the stores frayed and in packaging. i had to use them when i was working there last year and they can work albeit with great pains and practice. For my own stuff I seriously prefer Lowell Cornell, I even have a favorite type "comfort series" they are a good middle range price and nice quality. I think if you just go to an art store and pick up any good brush set you will fall in love with whatever you pick first. It will just be so much better than GW brushes you wont care.
