Default Guardians of the Covenant, the story of Marius, Part one

Hey guys. So this is the story of Marius, the commander of the Guardians of the covenant 4th company. He is the captain I am running for my Guardians of the covenant army and I wanted to do his fluff, so here is the story of Marius! Part one of course!

“Ordinance incoming,” Screamed the horrified guardsman sergeant to his right, but Marius didn’t care about that, he was much more interested in the charging horde of zealots and mutants.

“Traitorous filth” He thought to himself as he slammed a fresh clip into his bolter. “What’s the point in this? It is such a waste of life. They have no chance of winning, yet they keep sending wave after wave of these pathetic creatures at us.” Marius yelled out to his sergeant.

“They don’t think they can lose is the reason they continue young brother.” Zaal roared out as he let off a few rounds from his bolter into the front runners and several fell from the shells ripping into their chests and limbs, the screams of the dead and dying cut short by the ordinance blasts that could be heard all along the lines. Marius could recall when he served as a scout sniper, how easy targets these “things” made. He could recall days when he would claim 30-40 of them alone.

“Fire brothers, kill these traitors!” Roared Lucius, their brother-sergeant. With the order, all hell broke loose and the wrath of the emperor was upon the traitors as hundreds of bolter rounds tore into the mutants and zealots, dozens falling from the first shots to hit them. Marius watched as a rocket punched into the chest of one of them, making the traitors entire body explode, sending fragments, gore, and hot sharp metal pouring into the others around him. Las rounds and bullets from the traitors were starting to get close to the marines of the Guardians of the covenant, with a couple rounds bouncing harmlessly off their power armor. All along the lines, bolter rounds, las fire, and heavy weapons fire poured into the onrushing enemy troops, felling many, but still they came. It seemed that for every one that fell, another took his place, screaming curses at the emperor and screaming to their dark gods for guidance.

A shell from enemy artillery crashed into the trenches just to the marines right, and he heard the screams of the guardsmen as their lives were ended in a shower of steel and earth, limbs and blood flew for yards. Before the last of the limbs even touched the ground, a fresh squad of guardsmen from the reserves had already fallen into the trench, firing with ferocity and accuracy hoping to revenge their fallen comrades. The marines were not entirely unscathed at this point, with 2 of their number taking wounds from rounds that found weak spots in their armor, though both men were savable and would be just fine. As the traitors closed in on the beleaguered marines and guardsmen, Marius noticed shapes in the distance. They appeared to be marines, but were at a distance that he could not be sure.

“Prepare for close quarter fighting” roared Lucius, as he drew his chainsword and bolt pistol from their holsters. All along the trench, the marines began drawing combat knives and bolt pistols, ready for the slaughter to come. With a weak cry, the traitors broke cover and charged all along the imperial lines. Marius heard the roars of laughter from Darius, a member of an assault squad who was preparing to jump in. “Have fun brothers” boomed Darius as he punched his jump pack into life and flew straight at the traitors, firing his bolt pistol and laughing madly. As he flew into the air, so did the other 9 assault marines and, as they came down, their squads flamer unleashed gouts of flame into the traitors, making many traitors burst into flames and burn to death. Darius slammed into the traitors, killing 3 upon landing, 2 with his massive weight, and one with a bolt pistol round to the head.

“Charge,” Roared Lucius, his voice discernable above the uproar of their bolters. With this order, the 20 or so marines in the line and the hundreds of guardsmen around them, charged the traitors, shooting them down, and killing the survivors with pistol fire, bayonet points, rifle butts, and combat knives. The charge was over within 2 minutes, the traitors scattered, dead, or dying. The marines were not without casualties though. A few had fallen, including Lucius, who fell combating no less than 10 traitors, with one of them finding a weak spot in his armor, and running him through with a broad sword. In his death throes, he killed all of the traitors, and he died with a growing pile of dead around him, having claimed no less than 30 of the traitors. Marius claimed no less than 20 kills, his bolter and knife working together in unison to kill the traitors. With night fast approaching, the marines and guardsmen collected their dead and wounded, honoring those who had fallen, and cursing the traitors for their actions.

So that was part one! What do you all think?
