I never really got a feel for it back in it's hayday as I was about 12 when it peaked. My mom wasn't too keen on the idea of letting me hang out with a bunch of weird middleaged guys down at the shop all afternoon without her supervision, and the guys at the shop were so unaccusotomed to seeing women, that they couldn't stop making idiots of themselves. This only confirmed my mom's tensions, so I only ever got to play with a friend of mine.
