it's all in how you use it... dragons are great for;
- inflicting terror tests
- fast flanking moves such as scaring off enemy fast cavalry
- flank or rear charging! keep in mind that a fully healthy dragon on it's own will negate the enemy's rank bonus! with the character, you get an extra wound for unit strength to boot.
above all else though,
support your large monster with at least one other unit!!! a dragon isn't invincible, there are many things such as warmachines which will rip it to shreds... but, if you can keep it out of sight of artillery or else provide a more pressing threat to that nasty cannon, (a unit of mounted marauders or flying screamers work wonders!) then you've just up'ed your dragon's lifespan and usefullness...
