Abnett has been linking his 40k novels together in small ways for years, creating tiny refrences hidden in the plotlines
Like you said, Nayl and Kara are carried over from Eisenhorn.
In First and Only, gaunt made a refrence to The Spheres of Longing, a book wrote by ravenor, but ravenor's character only appeared in Maellus several years after First and Only was published.
Basicly what I'm saying is Abnett is a bloody genius.
