Yeah you are right it kinda does suck but then it open up some interesting fluff options now too.

For example I working on a background where my Warlord is a blessed by slaanesh and most of the army has the mark of slaanesh to support this. However because I also use 1k sons and some zerkers I can now pain them the color of my lord / army to keep them uniformed.

My fluff can support this now by saying he is so badarse that even though they are 1k sons and zerkers they paint their armor to match his to show they are dedicated to just helping him rip the universe a new one. Where as before I didnt even have the option to play with any combination of the 4 chaos gods troop choices.
