I have noticed that Abnett likes to give a lot of characters an unusually long life span before killing off (or as good as) loads of them in one go.
Bequin, Aemos, Fishig, Maxilla, all of them around since the start of Xenos, we're all disposed of within a few chapters of each other.
And in The Guns Of Tanith...
Doyl, Bragg and Kolea were killed off (or as good as) in the space of one chapter, and Bragg had been a main character for the whole series.
