Fire Dragons do NOT throw their Melta Bombs.. They used to in an older edition. Fire Dragons behave as normal in assault. Melta bombs are used in assault against armor on a vehicle. They give all their other attacks to use a melta bomb attack which is Str _, 2d6 armor penetration. The Strength is left '_' so I don't give away too much, but you get the idea now yes?
