13th Company start Ok... I'm ready for Apoc and have a good idea of what I want to do, just wanted to run it by you guys.
I'll be starting out my SW career with a 13th Co. remnant (about 2K or so), paired with an SW Great Company. This will be my part of a joint endeavor with Wolfpack to make the entire Chapter one day.
I am doing the 13th co. remnant allied with 12th Company, because as fluff goes the 12th is known for Wolf Lords bearing the Mark of the Wulfen, or rumored to. So, by fluff, what better company to possess the aid of such a large force of the 13th? This will be an Apoc army, so i'm looking for advice and cheese factors, is the combo itself over-powered?
My idea is to have 2 warhounds (which will be painted in correct Ad Titanicus scheme), a storm sword and maybe a shadow sword or hell hammer, and 2-3 thunderhawk gunships. A pack or two of bikers, a russ or two, a land raider crusader for a nice big blood claw squad + wolfpriest to run amock in. The apoc whirlwind + speeder formation, the 13th co. Wulfenguard formation, linebreaker squad.
Probably as well, most of the force will be mounted in rhinos or razorbacks, except for a few horde blood claw formationsof 14 + Wolf Guard. I have seen and heard wolfpacks views on this type of force, and it makes perfect sense fluff and gameplaye wise... Though I am nervous as before, i'e always HATED rhinos. So i'm lookign for advice there. I also tend to like putting my long fangs in a razorback with heavy bolters and a wolf guard, via wolfpacks advice.
If it all goes right, adding for titans, th army should be about.. 15-17K.
I will be working on 13th Co. first, since they won't change much w/ the new SW 'dex I hope. My first plan is to get two box of wulfen and a wolfpriest. This will really be about all I make, other than some storm claws and grey slayers, basically enough of each unit I can get a feel for them. I may not even get the two wulfen packs done though, as until the new SW dex most of my effort will be concentrated on my pre-heresy project (show case army of truescaled Pre-Heresy Word Bearers) and my custom chapter (Black Saints, Blood Angels sucessor. Uses hordes of assault marines.).
Now... in Apoc... With a Wolf Lord with Mark of Wulfen... Can you still take Grey Slayers as troops? I only ask for the fluff i'll be making for my force, as I am curious. Composition wise, it doesn't matter as I can not give him the mark and take wulfen via elites, but if I can give it to him and still have access to grey slayers, i'd like to. But it is important to me Grey Slayers be there.
I am also reviewing the rules, and if I am reading this right... All 13th Co. selections, even HQ... Count as having the scout rule? Is that the correct idea there?
I'm also looking for any advice and fluff on Bran Redmow, 13th Co. in general, and SW fluff. I know a fair amount on the last one in general, but always looking for advice.
