As for your assaulty IG... Hard to say. You could use the warrior weapons doctrine and, lets see, light infantry doctrine with the army. Youll have LOTS of attacks, and start fairly close to the enemy. Focuse alll or a bulk of the troops on a group at a time, and just slam into them with waves of infantry. Heck might as well give them Ogryn squads, rough riders, and die-hards for a truely mideval style swirling melee. Looks like a fun, fluffy army, but probably wodnt stand a chance against a solid opponent. Well, mabye, if you play your chips right, it could work. You'll need a lot of infantry to make it work. |
you can also do assaulty guard without warrior weapons... consider the following doctrines;
iron discipline
die-hards
veterans
light infantry
priests
- so your 3 elites choices are hardened vet squads, which will give you 3 'hidden' power fists and those units come with infiltrate as standard...
- your platoons shouldn't take heavy weapons; leave those to the HQ platoon's support squads
- take only 1 infantry platoon, thus you need only 2 'cheap' priests before you load out more squads with eviscerator wielding nutters! 1 priest should also take a holy relic for that +1A bonus once per game
- take plenty of flamers & meltas as your special weapons
- add on an armoured fist squad for your 2nd mandetory Troops choice...
- sentinels & demolishers are your mobile support units of choice
should be fairly fun and quite different! i dislike rough rider personally as they really are a true 'one hit wonder'... plus, you can't get any power fists!
cheers!
