Default model basing and DIY model basing

basing,
we all know basing a model can be quite hard, whether its choosing the type of base, wondering how to fit in small rubble or anything else.
but heres my little guide to base spectacular models.

sand
sand can be chosen for lots of models especially black templars, but somtimes it may be a bit light on too dark, heres what you can do
you can try putting small amounts of ink over the sand to make it look, scorched, worn or whatever you want to fit your needs.
i have seen some idiots try to change sand colour by dolloping giant blobs of paint onto the base, dont try this as it will ruin your model.
but scorched earth may bit your army better you might not want to use sand or rubble.

double patching
ive seen many a complete idiot try this, for those of you that are not familiar
with double patching it is basically adding gravel or rubble to static grass.
dont put the grass on first and the rocks on top.simply put the sticky substance where you want the grass to be seen, leaving the patches where you want rubble and then sprinlke the grass on. then add more glue and put the rock or gravel or slate where u want it and presto!
(make sure the model is stuck to the base before attempting this.

dont like grass or gravel? then try making your own,
for begginers try this:
get a lump of rock or sandstone and grind it down into a powder, put this powder in the fridge for 15 mins and then take out ready for adding to the base of your models.
as you become more experienced at this you can try adding other things like twigs and rustic iron

hope this has helped you!
i will ahve more basing guides later, anyone wondering how to do toxic waste or rivers should tell me
