lubing with vaseline is all well and good, and works much better than water, but is a royal pain in the arse to remove before painting, especially if the gs work is a bit fiddly.
the piercings are fairly easy to do, be they bolts or rings. just break it down into stages. first add the piercing itself ( a small roll of gs for a bar or a little ball of it hollowed out with a trimmed down toothpick/cocktail stick for a ring) then when that's dry add a thin strip of gs smoothed into the skin and tucked under the ring, or smoothed into the skin on both sides for a bar.
remember to have a camera handy when you do it, we will be wanting pics and maybe a guide if it comes out well
