1000 Point Force
HQ:
Reclusiarch
- MC Crozius Arcanum
Points: 100

+++ agree with dan, give him a jump pack and lose the master-crafting...
or else you could give him a command squad + dedicated transport to ensure he always arrives on table with some back-up in missions which use the reserves rules.+++

Elites:
Dreadnought
- Lascannon, Smoke Launchers
Points: 128

+++ i really like the assault cannon + rocket launcher combo myself... it keeps him multi-purpose and usefull in pretty much any situation with the sole exception of the assault phase.
still, he'll cut through infantry hoards, or MEQ units or even tanks thanks to the brokenness of the ass-can! on the other hand, that lascannon has only 1 purpose; tank-killing. if your opponent has no heavy armour or they have skimmers, you're dread is pretty much a write-off in terms of overall effectiveness.+++

Troops:
Tactical Squad I
(9 Marines) - Sgt has B. Pistol/CCW, Heavy Bolter, Frag Grenades.
Points: 149

+++ make it either 8 or 10 men for scoring unit purposes. i suggest 10 men + special weapon as pretty soon the standard marines will get the combat squads rule!+++

Tactical Squad (6 Marines) - Lascannon
Points: 105
Razorback (Transport for above TS) - Storm Bolter, Smoke Launchers (Heavy Bolters for primary weapon)
Points: 83

+++ drop the razorback for now. typically you don't want to transport a squad which has a heavy weapon as it's rather pointless! (ie: that lascannon wants to stand still and shoot!)
hang on to the razorback for now and when the combat squads comes, give it to a 10-man tactical squad so then your special weapon can motor about while the big gun sits back and gives covering fire!+++

Tactical Squad (10 Marines) - All Marines are CCW/B. Pistol equipped with Furious Assault. The Sgt has Terminator Honors and a Power Fist.
Points: 192

+++ as pointed out, they need a lift... 10 guys moving only 6"/turn while armed for assault tend to carry large placards with the words 'shoot me' writen all of it!+++

Fast Attack:
Assault Squad
(9 Marines) - x1 Plasma Pistol, Furious Assault
Points: 230

+++ drop the squad down to 8 men - especially if you put the chappy into the squad! 8 bodies gives you a few ablative casulties without suffering too much loss in the way of offensive punch.
10 men can be a bit too good at combat and have a habbit of either being a big target, or else qiping out their opposition and then leaving themselves sitting ducks!+++

Total Points: 987

1500 Point Force
HQ:
Master of Sanctity
- MC Crozius Arcanum
Points: 115

+++ again, lose the master-craft. take either a jump pack or give him a command squad + transport.+++

Elites:
Dreadnought
- Lascannon, Smoke Launchers

+++ as above. i hate the twin-lascannon because it's too situational and it's totally useless against most infantry... (ie: you can really, really kill 1 guy!)assault cannons do so much more and then some.+++

Terminator Squad
(5 Marines) - x2 Assault Cannon
Points: 240

+++ make it 6 men for scoring unit purposes...
or else give your chappy terminator armour and then give him a retinue of 4 termies including the ass-cans.+++

Troops:
Tactical Squad
(10 Marines) - x1 Heavy Bolter, Frag Grenades
Points: 164

Tactical Squad (6 Marines) - x1 Lascannon
Points: 105

Tactical Squad (10 Marines) - All Marines are CCW/B. Pistol equipped with Furious Assault. The Sgt has Terminator Honors and a Power Fist.
Points: 210

Scout Squad (5 Marines) - All scouts are sniper-rifle equipped.
Points: 90

+++ 6 would be ideal. i'd also give 1 scout a rocket launcher to give them a bit of extra punch as they'll typically be shooting large gribbly multi-wound models!+++

Fast Attack:
Assault Squad
(9 Marines) - x1 Plasma Pistol, Furious Assault
Points: 230

+++ again, 8 is much more effective for less cost.+++

Heavy Support:
Whirlwind Artillery
- Storm Bolter (It has crossed my mind to replace this with a HK Missile)
Points: 95

+++ a whirlwind is indirect fire. you should be well hidden and out of sight compleatly so don't bother with any upgrades! if you're whirlwind can be shot at by the enemy, then you've done something very wrong, or else the battle's to the point the whirlwind won't save you!+++

Predator Annihilator - Smoke Launchers
Points: 123

+++ give it heavy bolter sponsons for a good solid, all-rounder. now you can move 6"/turn and fire a S9 ap2 shot + 6 S5 ap4 shots...+++

Total Points: 1500

All thoughts on my planned expansion into the 1000+ world would be greatly appreciated. If you want to comment on the existing force, feel free to as well.

Also, I should comment that in both forces, the Chaplain will be paired with the CCW/Bolt Pistol only squad.
the chappy would be better off in the assault squad... if you want an IC to give a bit more punch to that 10-man bolt pistol/ccw squad, then consider a cheap captain w/power toy + bolt pistol + combat shield. that's 5 extra armour save ignoring attacks on the charge! this leave your chappy free to help out the assault squad and make them a real threat.

a bit more anti-tank would also be advisable... right now at 1500pts you've currently got 3 lascannons. consider that at 1500pts, an imperial guard list for example can bring 3 av14 leman russ tanks to the table, on top of any chimeras, hellhound and/or sentinels!
skimmers are also a huge threat as well. both tau and eldar can bring alot of them to the table... look at multi-shot S6-8 weapons for knocking those down. lascannons and krak rockets are less usefull against these targets are their high penetrative abilities are pointless. (99.9% of the time you'll only ever get glancing hits vs skimmers!)

hope this helps,
cheers!
