I'd drop the combat shield on the sarge. A unit commander (UC) like a sergeant is hard enough to hit/single out. Taking the combat shield is minimal help to him really. It is cool for modeling, but I wouldn't give it to him wargear wise. You can have the bit on there w/ out the wargear, just make sure to inform your opponent. I'd take it if the points total were 2.5K+, but even then only if you have a few pts. to blow.
