1) What kind of drones are you talking about ? Gun drones, Shield drones, Marker light drones?. All drones can be useful.
2) Yes, you can choose to remove the drones as a casualty, unless your oppenent has some special ability that allows him to choose the target aka Vindicare assassin.
3) Yes, their armor saves count toward the majority armor save rule. on a side note, I believe Shield drones recieve the same armor save and toughness as the model that holds the drone controller. i.e. A broad side with 2 shield drones, the unit would have a majority armor save of 2 plus.
