I do.. It's fluff really..
The Thousand Sons are the Thousand Sons.. Period.. Using their rules anywhere else is just cheesy and weak.. It's just as simple to have a warband of 1k Sons working w/ the Corsairs (if you're so worried about fluff) and such than all of the stuff you mention.
Verdict: Don't do it.. It's a major fluff violation.
you can however, model them pre-heresy style, etc..
