Well, the idea of being immune to fire would only be part of it... The avatar is the god of its craftworld. There are actually a severe limit on how many actual Avatars there are, but each may re-manifest at the heart of the craftworld it was meant to protect.
However, does the avatar have fire-like abilities? Consider, Chaos is on the rise. The Eldar are falling. So it might be more feasable for there to be a daemonprince old and powerful enough to have similar abilities than it would be to see an Avatar on the battlefield.
Does the Avatar have flame-thrower like abilities? One idea I had is, instead of a flamer template, when in melee, the Chaos Champion of Slaanesh could release a burst of energy, a sort of warp flash released from within his being. And it would either be base-to-base, blast-template or ordnance. I haven't figured out which. The idea being he's on fire, everyone's trying to bayonet, beat, cut and shoot him in hand-to-hand, and he lets out a burst of warp-fire, becoming a temporary vortex of hellfire and destruction. Perhaps it would be a psychic ability, and require a psychic test (thus, perils of the warp would be the fire turning against him, rather than some random warp beast reaching up to grab him).
As to the barbed wire idea, I do like the suggested arms and possibly head only, where the rest is still power-armor. It seems more likely in my mind that that, or perhaps, an arm and a leg would be wrapped thusly, instead of the whole body... |
