‘lo all.
So its been a while since I’ve touched on my elder, but I finally got the last piece of my base elder army, a final dire avenger/serpent box and a fire prism.
However, I am far from finished this army, and ill keep you all updated.
Here’s the list of what I have.
Finished:
Wave Serpent #1 with twin scatter lasers
Falcon with pulse laser, bright lance
Vyper with scatter laser

Painted but not based
5 fire dragons, exarch with firepike
5 howling banshees, exarch with mirrorswords
9 dire avengers, exarch with two avenger shuriken catapults

Built

13 dire avengers, 2 exarchs with two avenger shuriken catapults
9 jetbikes with shuriken catapults, 3 with shuriken catapults
2 vypers with starcannons
Farseet on jetbike

So I built the autarch on jetbike custom, before the wind rider host came out. Check out the tutorial I wrote for it in the STC manufactorum!
The farseer, however, I built using the autarch on jetbike pieces in the wind rider host box. I also used pieces from the Eldrad blister. All I did was a head swap (not so simple when you want to get the ghost helm intact, and on eldrad the back half is touching his robe!) and I used the witchblade, though im considering upgrading him to a singing spear. However, can he cast spells and use the singing spear in the same turn? He is going to be with the jetbikes, and I would rather him Guide the squad or Doom their target then simply have another couple attacks. I think the re-rolls would be more efficient then just the spear.
Im also considering getting some harlequins, and leaning towards it cause theyre just awesome in almost any situation.

Im not going to have a set list for these guys, but I AM going to have set builds (IE, im always going to take the fire dragon squad with the exarch w/ firepike, and stick them in the falcon w/ bright lance. That’s just ANY tanks worst nightmare right there.)
Theyre only going to be run in a 2k list.
That…brings me to a mini-rant.

So I was in games workshop @ Arundal Mills, and im in line (there was a line…for once…but anyway) as im standing there, the manager, who was behind the counter, comes out and looks at the stuff I have. He turns back around and grabs a Cloudstrike apocalypse box, and says that I should get it. It’s 3 falcons for $90, and I would save $30, almost enough for another one (yea, ok)
I decline, saying I want a small elder list. He gets this weird expression on his face, like he ate something bitter. He said that was silly, that im “seriously limiting yourself!” “You wont be able to play apocalypse! And theres no such thing as a small 40k army!”
Now no offense Wolfpack, but I beg to differ. I want my elder small. That’s the whole point of them. I don’t like the big, hard to handle armies. The small skirmishes are what make the wars. But I digress!
“that’s stupid. I already have 4k of world eaters, 2k tyranids, and 4500 points of space marines and sisters of battle. I want a small army. Plus, apocalypse sucks! Every time ive played apocalypse here (at the games workshop. And im talking to the manager) its been terrible! We only get in two, three turns max and usually im blown up by all sorts of stupid little kids whove parents buy them baneblades that are falling apart (ive had this rant before, remember?) while all of my models, that ive spent a lot of time on, are wasted. Plus, im magnetizing all of the turrets so I can have my tanks (3 serpents, falcon, prism, +3 vypers!) be interchangeable with their weapons”
he just says “that’s just more pieces to lose” and walks away
when I get to the redshirt cashier, whose actually worked there for about a year and a half and Ive gotten to know him, he says “he just wants you to buy more stuff”
I couldn’t agree more >.<

But im going to magnetize all of the tanks weapons so I can deal with any situation. I don’t think I will with the wave serpents, ill stick them with scatter lasers and maybe missle launchers on the last one I build.
However, the vipers are going to be between scatter lasers, starcannons, and maybe bright lances.
My friend gave me a Fire Prism main gun, so im going to magnitize the turret of the falcon so its interchangeable between falcon/prism. The other prism will stay a prism. Honestly though, im probrobly going to stick with the falcon most of the time. As I said, dragons+falcon is one of the best tank busters in the GAME

So yea, ill be posting pics of the stuff ive built, get your suggestions/comments on how theyre painted n stuff, and post army lists [against various opponents (MEQ, mech tau)]
