the thing is.... What Abnett writes on isn't exactly AGAINST fluff... It's just not based off of it. 90% of his work doesn't really challenge any fluff. It just pushes our preconceptions of certain roles within the universe.
It is stupid for SM to use Multi-Lasers.. SM are very,
very stringent. Most would die before they picked up a discarded weapon to fight with. They are very much an idealistic depiction of a Knight in that regard. Them fighting with a gun that's mounted only on vehicles of the IG.. It's just dumb. And it goes against several pieces of fluff.
