I've always thought that, while the Land Raider is prety awesome, it is a bit too much for anything under 2000 points. Just know that it will hvae to pull its weight, and not get shot up by railguns and lances. Be bold (it does have AV14), but be smart. Also keep in mind that you could buy 3 Rhinos for the ISTs and SMs, and a Chimera for your Inquisitor, and still have points left over.
Just as a side note, buy the Land Raider as a Heavy Support option because I think if you buy it as a transport it can't capture table quarters. Just put your Inquisitor inside on your first turn (if they're right next to it, they can embark and the LR can still move).
Also, as cool as they are, I wouldn't go with an Orbital Strike. I tried using one once, and it was a waste of 80 points. I was only playing a combat patrol, but I had centered it on a building where nearly all the action was, and it still killed absolutely nothing. Maybe it works better in larger games, but you can still get other great stuff for its cost. For example, a Rhino or two for your ISTs.
