I agree with this 100% Pick up the codex, you know read through it, and make a choice then. Because of the fact it isnt uncommon for someone wanting to start an army for what ever reason and then mid way through building the army, it wasnt really there cup of tea. Now I am not talking about your choice of Grey Knights, that is fine, but rather the choice between SM and IG. Again like Four20edLogan said, get the codex first, then pick.
