Okay, here's the scenario.

My friend took a squad of termies with a LR transport. Now at the end of the game, the squad was above 50%, but the land raider was destroyed. My friend says that because this land raider was taken as an upgrade for his squad, he still gets the 250ish points even though it was destroyed.

This seems a little silly to me. If anyone could clear this up for me I'd be the happy guy.
