Empire can have to steep of a learning curve if your playing against experienced players. Orcs and Goblins can be frustrating due to animosity. Elves and Dwarves are both simple tactic using armies and or Chaos. A lizardmen army with at least three units of saurus and a Slann (one unit being temple guard) is a very forgiving army and inmy opinion the best for a beginer. I started with Lizardmen and have branched out since (Vamps/DOW/O&G) So I'd do this...

Easiest.

Lizardmen
Dwarves
High Elves
Chaos (non denomic legion)

Hardest

DOW
Dark Elves (though a really savy player can excel with them)
Ogres (unless you play them Multiple Small UNits MSU which makes them fairly easy to play)

In the middle is both undead armies and O&G.

That being said I come from an area with that's very competitive using Balanced armies, not WAAC ones.
