| Re: For Terra! (my first attempt at fluff, for the 40k Terra SM chapter) Well, I did a quick bit of proofreading and seperated the paragraphs. Look better?
*Edit* Made some changes.
(other titles?) Orcus Acacius
Originally a member of the ??? Chapter, Orcus Acacius first served the Holy Emperor in battle during the ??? campaign, where he distinguished himself fighting the (some kind of Tau forces) on the world of ???. Orcus disdained the Tau's reliance on ranged weaponry, preferring to meet his enemies face-to-face where he could put his Thunder Hammer to best effect. Even his comrades held his close quarters fighting prowess in high esteem.During the campaign, he became close friends with his (veteran sarge?) Caecilius Damianus, whom he held in the highest regard, and a fellow squad member, Aden Erasmus. (name of squad?)
In (date?) the chapter was redeployed in the ??? sector, where he first encountered the forces of the ruinous powers. During a routine patrol near a ??? on the world of ???, his squad was ambushed by a superior force of ??? Recovering quickly from their initial suprise, the Terminator squad closed with a number of Tzeencth followers, frantically sending a distress signal (how?) before creating a whirling melee, hoping to throw the attackers off guard and allow enough time for reinforcements to arrive.
During the almost suicidal assault, in which Orcus killed fully
half a dozen enemies, Aden Erasmus turn on his comrades, firing his Stormbolter into the back of the man who had led them into so many battles and brought them back safe. No longer was Erasmus guided by the Holy Emperor's will. Almost simultaneously the sorcerer hit Caecilius Damianus with his rune-encrusted Force Sword, thrusting it deep into his abdomen.
Without flinching, Orcus turned his weapon on a friend who was now a foe, dispatching his comrade-in-arms whose mind had been tainted without thought, and then turned his attentions to the servant of Chaos. With a bloodcurdling yell, Orcus charged the sorcerer, using his Stormshield to deflect the inital blow of the Force Sword. Smashing the shoulder of his quarry with the shield, he followed seamlessly with the full brunt of his hammer upon the helmet of the comptemtable vermin, the blow a fatal one.
Shouting at his remaining brothers to fall back to the ??? and send another distress signal (with what) Orcus charged yet again toward his opponents. He stooped as low to the ground as possible, yet still moving quickly, the Stormshield his only cover. Caecilius Damianus would chided him for his foolishness.
The others withdrew with hesitation, not wanting to leave their compatriot to die alone, but having no real say in the matter. Faced with overwhelming odds, Orcus shouted curses at the followers of the false gods, while moving quickly to the nearest cover. He knew the concrete slab he ducked behind would not protect him long. He was ready to die for the most beneficent Emperor, quietly praying to Him to accept the sacrifice he was about to make.
That instant he perceived a faint termor through his tired legs, and his ears picked up a sound he knew well, growing closer by the second. The faint tremor became a groundshaking rumble as a Land Raider of the (company?) barreled towards him through a corridor in the ruins to west. The distress call had been received. He did not know if it would make a difference, but in spite of the grim situation, a grin came to his lips.
This fight was not over. Slim though his chances for survival were, there was still hope. Not wasting further time or breath cursing those wretches, he turned and ran. With much haste Orcus made his way to the mechanical behemoth spewing the Emperor's judgement on the vile enemies of Mankind. He would live to fight another day, and fight he would.
Bolter rounds whizzed by, none finding their mark. He leapt onto the assault ramp of the glorious death machine, its engine at idle yet still drowning out almost every other sound. Heavy Bolters and Lascannons sent his foes to meet their masters. The ramp closed. His eyes became dim, and he felt a burning pain just above his waist on the left side. Blood flowed. "The fiend got me after all. At least I'm in better shape than him, damned Sorcerer." Orcus muttered as he slumped against the hull.
Only hours later would remorse for killing one of his own enter his thoughts. When it did, Orcus uttered softly a promise to the departed spirit of Erasmus. He, like Daminaus would be avenged, or Orcus would join them in death. It did not take long for the sorrow and sense of loss inside him to change into anger and bloodlust.
Wargear:
Hatred of the False Gods - Orcus Acacius enters a bloodthirsty rage when facing the minions of Chaos. Many enemies have come to fear his mastery of Stormshield and Thunderhammer. His almost suicidal bravery inspires those around him. As such, any friendly unit with 12" of him counts any Chaos forces as a Preferred Enemy.
Can a Thd. hammer be master crafted?
I need to now how Erus's character became aware of Orcus's exploits, and a physical description (working on it). Orcus relies on brute strength and physical prowess a bit more than tactical genius, but he is no dull oaf. He is a ferocius CC fighter, fiercely
loyal, but a bit hard to control, but follows Erus's character's orders with out hesitation. I consider him Erus's "enforcer". Like I said, just a rough ideal, a lot will probably change, and errors
corrected. At least I tried!
