This tutorial is one of a multi part guide on building Pre Heresy Terminators. I have Split it up to stop information overload.
This section deals with the
basics of Torso
Tools Required:Plastic Terminator Torso (with head fitted-otherwise you may struggle to fit it)
0.5mm Plasticard
Sharp Exacto Knife (a blunt knife is more dangerous than a sharp one)
Cutting Mat
Good Polystyrene Cement (I recomend somthing like Revel Contact Professional)
Needle files/high grain abrasive paper
Steel Rule
Pencil
Time-do not attempt to rush a project or you will just make a mess!
Step One-Gorget
Cut a piece of plasticard like the one in the picture.
Roll the piece round the handle of a paint brush to give it a natural curl to aid in fitting
Step Two-Trimming to fit & fitting
Using a bit of trial and error and many dry fits trim the lower long edge of the triangular Gorget so it sits at the right height for your model (this is also down to personal choice)
When it is right glue it in place making sure it is central
Step Three-Banding
Cut a long thin strip of plasticard and glue it along the bottom edge of the Gorget where it meets the Torso-this will help cover any errors in trimming and give a much neater finish.
Trim any excess banding at the ends of the collar.
Extra touches
If you want to go for the true Pre Heresy look make sure you file of any Post heresy markings (Aquillas(unless Emperors Children),purity seals, crux terminus etc)-you may wish to make a simple armour plate from plasticard to cover the chest area after filing of details or add some hoses using thin guitar strings
A further tutorial on finishing details will deal with extra pieces like studs/rivets, chaimail/leather straps under the curved armour, curved armour end pieces and other cosmetic details.
