I find myself lately likeing the combination of the 2x twin-linked devourers, warp field and wings. this variation is very adapted at flying around and shooting the hell out of anything that moves, i'm talking about 12 twinlinked shots that hit on 4's and are strength 6 re-rolling all wounds. Plus if really need it you can charge any vehicle with 4 attacks from a monstrous creature. the second tyrant I would consider a set of scything talons. Make the second one cheap and run him were the synapse is needed. the flying one will kill and be killed and the second one will be somewhat ignored and will keep the synapse alive. a venom cannon on a hive tyrant i feel is sorta a waste it's most powerful when attached to a carnifex were it can lob its shots at strength 9.
