Avoid combat with wynchs. (You'll know them. Look like gladiators and have lots of combat weapons.) Shoot them to hell, DO NOT let them get into hand to hand with you.
DE HQ choices can be monstrous but they also cost lots of points. Incubii are deadly in combat and have great (+3) saves. Try and blow the transport if at all possible.
Standard warrios are not anything to be afraid of in close combat but you won't want to let them bog you down and keep you still for the combat monsters to come in and finish you.
DE have lots of...odd wargear. It is perfectly within the rules to ask to read his codex before playing and maybe ask him what some of his troops are. Knowledge is power.
