well yeah. but these things are only designed to fire for about a minute tops- imagine these drop pods slamming into the ground virtually IN your position, the sides drop down and instantly the air is filled with assault cannon rounds and/or missiles. pretty devastating and definitely a suitable way to soften up the target for when the Space Marines arrive seconds after the pods have run out of ammo.
