Ok, so saturday i was in my local GW, and we were havin a talk about nids. now, the hive mind came up and we were having a discussion about its nature. now, two groups formed.
one group thought that each hive fleet is its own seperate entity, with its own hive mind. there is no one big collective conciousness that is The Hive Mind (capitilized) each fleet is led by a norn queen, who dominates it and controls them all in a fleet-wide hive mind (not caps
) that doesnt extend past her own warriors. this is why fleets attack each other (though the result is greater then the sum of its parts thing) and why, in game terms anyway, (disregarding balancing) one nid player cant use the synapse network of another nid player. the Tyranids are, basically, bee swarms that have a group conciousness. they cant interact with each other.
the other group thought that each fleets queen link with each other making one big Hive Mind that can work together. they attack each other because they know the winner will be stronger then both combined, and they do it cause they dont have anyone else to fight at the moment.
what are your thoughts on this? one big swarm or each fleet seperate?
