Hey Everyone,
Well I've decided I'm going to start a WIP Blog on my two armies, Death Guard and Renegade Militia. My Death Guard army is a mix of old school and the newest (soon to be Forge World kits), accumulated over 6 years. At this point I have around 10,000 pts worth of Nurgley goodness, and after 5 years of playing with the generic green Plague Marines, I've decided to go different and paint them up in their original Pre-Heresy colors (albeit corroded and diseased) of white and green.
First I must tell you that while I love Nurgle and Death Guard, I'm not a fan of the over-the-top daemon and puss covered armies. I see the Death Guard as efficient Spartans, nothing flashy (even if that's daemon flashy), just pure killing machine. As such, my army looks more ancient and time worn, not daemonized and putresence covered (with the exception being my Defiler).
The second army is my Forge World Renegade Militia. When these guys came out, I was instantly hooked. However, I had made a promise to myself I'd build up my Death Guard army prior. I've started my collection around Christmas time and currently I have around 5,000 points worth of Renegade. My main reason for undergoing this new army is mainly for Apocalypse.
All those fluff-o-holics know that although the Traitor Legions number several thousand twisted Space Marines, their real backbone is the millions of Imperial Army (Guard) that had turned during the Heresy. Also, Imperial Guard companies are always rebelling and turning to the Dark Gods (who can blame them?!). Therefore, I've always imagined a large army of Death Guard, about 60-100 Plague Marines strong, accompanied and bolstered by around 100-200 Renegade Militia.
Although this had started out as a support for Apocalypse, it has exploded into a full blown army and in its own right an enitrely new force. The final phase of my ultimate Apocalypse army will be an entire Nurgle Daemon army, thus making a Death Guard Legion invading army. The final piece will be a Legio Mortis Warhound, which god only knows when that will come ($500... yeah). Without further ado, I'm going to include some up-to-date pictures of my custom Death Guard Defiler and Renegade Hellhound.
