Default Re: "Death and Honor to the Brave Cymian 5th

Cymia Prime's turn out rate of Imperial Guard regiments has lead to the founding and refounding of hundreds of Guard Regiments. One of the most notable being the Cymian 5th Infantry Regiment.

After the Cymian 5th was nearly destroyed in the first assault of the Chaos host on its own soil, it was quickly and quite brashly combined with several other badly mangled regiments. The remnants of the 18th Cymian Armored division were placed directly into the usually foot slogging 5th.

The 18th had engaged the enemy in hopes of halting the assault on the vulnerable flank of the 6th army. They held out against the odds of the traitors but were in return of their valiant defense almost completly destroyed.

Another element that was sewn to the hide of the regiment were the forces of the 7th Cymian Mechanized Legion, who had been reduced to a mere thousand strong after their own participation along side the the 18th Armored in the running defense against assault.

Among other scraps that were hastily placed into the regiments logs were several different companies of Trojan Stormtroopers (Specifically the 16th company The Screamers) and Cymian Out Riders to be drafted into the regiment to put it back to fighting strength, These Outriders were separated into squadrons within each individual company.

Subsequently thanks to several strong point attacks and last stand defenses the Cymian 5th has been hacked apart and reborn into something else. all of which has lead to the large use of transports, armored units, and calvary as support to the infantry formations. The entire regiment has often been referred to as the most flexible regiment of Cymian stock.

When most other regimental doctrines would have immediately removed all non-foot forces within the regiment, the Colonel of the time refused by and made the comment "I don't give a damnn if you want them back sir. We are at the most effective fighting power that we've ever been. So General I must heartily decline your request." The Planetary Counsel took the regiment to trial, observed it during combat, and later agreed to let it remain and continue to recruit according to the individual companies requirements. Though This has lead to constant supervision from Imperial military bureaucrats and Inquisitors.

Now unfortunately this is all I have as of yet for the actual regiment as of now. But I will continue and try and pump out some more story for them.
