Juudski, what you have is called scale mail. Commonly used by crusaders, arabs, and eastern peoples due to remarkably light weight in comparsion to chainmail, yet just as good slice protection, and better stab guarding. It's sorta the step between chain and plate, imho. If you still have, and depending on the condition of it, I might just nab that vest.
