OK,

Since nobody ever answered the OP, here it is:

If you have a Standard measurement, and want to go to Metric (inches to mm), multiply the inch measurement by 25.4 IE: 1" = 25.4mm and .040" = 1.016 or roughly 1mm.

If you have a Metric mesurement and want to go to Standard, divide by 25.4 IE: 2mm = .078" or roughly .080".

BTW, they call it Standard measure in the US, for about 40 years now. Imperial measure is only good for liquids.

I'm a machinist, and use these simple coversions daily, but I'm really surprised that NOBODY remembers this from school.
