I don't have an IG 'dex on hand at the mo but I always read it as 60 points per squad, plus weapons and upgrades. So a platoon of 5 sqauds would be 300 points, plus weapons and upgrades. Thats why gaurdsmen are mentioned as 6 points each, as 60 points divided by 10 is 6.
