Iron Hands?? Why didnt you mention anything in my thread about them. I'm starting a Iron Hands force for apocalypse after my Death Korps is semi done. Good luck with those guys and I'll be watching this closely.

yes Erus and i have come up with a twist to the scouts. i'm not spilling the beans on it yet so you better keep it quiet too there Erus. you'll get your credit when i get pics up. should be soon hopefully.

i've had this force for a while ther Baron. finally got back to doing some stuff with them. want to really make them a force on thier own but also want to do them so i could use them as conscripts in an Ad Mec force too. so i'm working out the paint scheme now.

base - black
trim - silver
left grieve - red
right shoulder pad - red

adding in bionic bits where i can.

i've got old style tech marines as vet sgts. (yes i know they cant do the servo arm but they have it for fluff reasons....)

4 plastic dreads to date

1 vindi

turret bits for a whirlwind

2 tech marines with full servo harness (one is mail order version)

iron hands model that i'm converting (only a bit on the pack) to be my chappy with jump pack (i've already added his servo arm to the pack!!!!)

1 oop scout squad with 3 snipers, 1 hvy bolter and 2 bp/ccw and i've got a tech priest enginseer as the vet sgt

enough troops for almost 5 squads of 10.

have some guys i was using for sgts before that i may make into assault squad without jet packs or get some packs and modify them.....not sure.

not sure how many of you have a costco near you (or sams club works too i guess) but we get the big box of plastic (saran) wrap and one time the wife opened the box after took out the thick cardboard tube and the 2 plastic "wheels" in it and asked if i wanted them for modeling...sweet jiminey yes!! i'll try to get a pic soon. if i can work some magic the wheels are perfect base size for a six sided drop pod!!!

I have to say, looks very promising so far Griplion, very promising indeed. now, get a WIP thread going and get some pictures of these guys up!

first i gotta make room on my table for a group shot of the guys then i'll break them down to squad photos. but i wont have time for a few days. and it'l be hard to see much on them as most are based black at the moment. yeah i know i got lots of work to do.

i just got in my scouts i want to convert. that'll give me 2 squads of them. these are new plastic snipers. i've got a converstion for them in mind that i've been discussing with Erus and now i can get to work on part of it. just need a few other bits to kit them out with.

ah.. the scouts have been cleaned of mould lines. now the fun stuff starts. but no details for ya'll yet!! ; P erus i got some bits comming to do the conversions from a buddy. think tomb kings ; ) and no not the part from tomb kings that i want for my 1ksons.

oh i've picked up 7-8 sm assault marines for my assault squad. now i've got to strip and convert them to fit the army. yeah me another project!!!! sometimes i'm stupid.... wait i never admit that.......oh is it to late to take that back....?

got a trade in for some assault marines. now i have enough to do my assault squad!!! yeah me! however they aren't new models so i need to strip them.. yeah simple green!!!

well the scout project has begun. i'm doing just 2 of the scouts holding the rifles as if taking a shot and the other 3 2will have the rifles on thier backs and holding spears and shields "aquired" from the local world.....

trimming the hands off the sniper rifles was a real pain in the arse big time. i managed to snap off the butt of one of the rifles in the process but got it glued back on and it appears okay so far.

i puttied some straps holing the spears and shields on these guys backs. not too difficult but a new application of putty that i hadn't tried before so was fun.

the 2 holding the rifles are assembled except for thier heads which i'll try to get to tomorrow.

the remaining 3 have thier guns on thier backs now and and 2 out of 3 have the straps in place. the final guy i got the right strap in place but need to wait for the arms to get the last strap in place.

but thats it for tonight i'm beat and have a bunch of ***** to get done tomorrow so need to be able to get up early...ah man.....

well guys,

its been a bit of a break on this for me. have had some other work and family stuff taking priority and i've just finished my first "commission" piece for a friend.

and add in starting a new modeling game i've been quite busy.

however i hope to get back to work on these guys here soon. probably after the current april painting comp.

i managed to get some work on my scouts in!!!

check out the wip topic to see some goodness! yeah boi!

now the guys are sitting on cardboard drying from primer. then i gotta play with the 2 shooters in the squad and thier bionic left arms and figure out the remaining arms on the others as well then hit them with another coat and start painting.

if i had timed this better i could have used these guys for my april painting comp.....
hmmm maybe i'll hold off painting them till the next squad painting challenge.
