getting back into Warhammer - 40K Terra

So before I go waste the money on a 4th edition Ork codex please someone tell me they have rebuffed my lovely precious greenskins from the thin and venomless third edition shadows of true Orkdum..lie to me if you have to

Warp Grenades?..yes ..yes?

Squige catapults?..maybe ...please?(the real one ..not the "squig catapults" the ones that shoot into close combat because a well trained squig would never bite anything green)

oh yeah ..and cheaper points costs so I can get all 250 grotz and all my orks and toys on 1500 pts.. (nothing looks cooler than grotz from table corner to table corner(8ft) each 1.5 inches apart... and 3 rows deep)

I know I'm probably speaking gibberish and alienating folks but I dream of the lovely second edition days when a force of orks could seriously ruin anyones day .. win or lose.. they were fun

They haven't brought out the 4th ed ork codex, it comes out later on in the year like august or some thing. But I hope they do get some new stuff to use.

ah groovy and edifying ... thanks for the info .... well I'm hoping for a return to fun orks .. it's not that I want to win everytime ..I just enjoy occasionally killing a model or 2 before the end of 6 turns

in third this seems phenomemnaly hard to do if your opponent has planned his army well ...

you either select a bunch of truck mounted boyz ... read as ten per truck ..truck gets shot up explodes ..boyz lose 2 guys get shot assualting lose morale and fall back mobbing up next turn get shot up retreat mob up.. rinse and repeat until your out of boyz ...

or you get max size mobs ..run across the board get shot up lose half your troops .. then assualt .. SM army get the initiative slaughters the other half of your boyz and in turn looses 2 or 3 figs

needless to say I gave up on my beloved greenskinz after about 20 games of tweeking and retweeking ... sure there were ways to get in some kills but actually winning a head to head punch out where victory was decided by victory points alone... no ..not so much so

I'd love to see a return to the "glory dayz" where a stray warp grenade would sweap back into your camand squad and suck them into the warp screaming ... that was good for a laugh.. I alway saw greenskinz as the 40K wildcard .. you never knew what was going to happen ..it was just fun and occasionaly if the scatter dice favoured you then you mopped up some filthy humies and called it a day

I love my skinz .. but if I want to win ..I leave them at home

well then may i suggest a cities of death game? the orks can definetly win many a battle in the confines of a small city.

yes I acquired the cities codex and am drooling with desire to pull out like 4000pts of orks and eat some poor silly misguided shooty army.. however ..I am still looking for someone brave(silly..psychotic...or heres one ..someone in my area mature enough to not believe winning=fun ...losing= yell moan and storm of in a huff) ..*sigh* .. aaahh the horrors of existence in the culteral vortex of the midwest

anyway ..yes still looking for a volunteer to face some serious greenness in the confined and twisting city streets

hmm ..perhaps in retrospect the current ork codex was devised with CoD in mind ... certainly inside the confined spaces an ork army will be bloody hard to clear out ..what with those lovely streets to funnel your broken units into your fresh for a lovely mob up

yeah. but remember in the tiny spaces were your orks wont get slaughtered by shooting is where they excell. however just remember that even in a ruined building the guardsmen can make a defiant stand

also good luck with finding a good sport to play against up there. and if they give you any attitude remind them of rule #1 Have fun. if they cant abide by that rule then they have already lost

What you should watch out for is getting to confined and missing out on all those 120 attacks on the charge ,which helps killing those pesky Oomies.

I only play with one friend of mine. He got me into 40k. He has like 5 friends that play that got him into it, but we don't play with them. They are jerks. They get mad and they argue about rules. They yell and name call. They're a bunch of stupid **** heads. The crowd at my local 40k store appear to be the same type of people.
