|  Why are Orks Green? Wow... my last thread got fatty >.> well here's hopefully another topic that people will want to go on and on about... Why are Orks green? Obviously the first reason is since they're also plants (mold, shroom, alge, w/e) then it adds to their green-ness (which makes me wonder can't they photosynsize for energy? hungry? just stand in the sun...) I mean why don't more people make like red orks for chaos? Blue orks (well I guess they got that lucky paint)? Pink orks? Camo-orks? Brown Orks? |

| orks are green cause they're made of fungus, which is a plant, and cause GREEN IS BEST!

| Banned | Orks consists of two symbiotic organisms: one being the animal and the other an alga. The DNA Helix of one is curled round that of the other and living in the bloodstream. The animal cells carry the genetic information of only the individual's subspecies, but the alga has genetic information for all the varieties of Orkoid, as well as the different Oddboyz (which is why mekaniaks instinctively know how to repair/make vehicles). The alga also helps heal wounds quickly. by default, this alga also means that orky gums and tobgues should not be pink, but a very dark green. ork blood SHOULD not be red because of this, but GW has said that it is red to make paining it more dramatic (a stupid reason if you ask me) hopw this helps |

| ive actually heard that they are green cause they have cloroplasts in their skin, allowing them to do photosynthesis. this is why they can live in such hard enviorments, and why its only their skin thats green, not their tongues or blood.

Makes sense  And if you think about it, plants aren`t green on the inside so it would be perfectly normal for ork to have red blood since red blood cells are pretty darn good at moving gases through the body and red makes a nice constrast with green  plus blood allways looks dramatic.

 | The green colour in Orks is caused by the process of photosynthesis in the chloroplasts. You must realise, however, that photosythesis in plants and fungi produces chemical energy for the cell itself, not the other cells. Ergo, Orks must eat like any other animal, in order for the non-fungi cells to live. Yes, I know that I didn't answer the question, but providing facts is allowed, I think... Also, Ork blood will be red, as the animal cells will need pure oxygen, provided by Iron coated red blood cells.

| Re: Why are Orks Green? Yea I didnt read the post, but Im sure/hope this was covered. They are green because Orks are inherently fungus that grows from rocks! Thus the greenish skin is pigment from the fungus characteristic.

To me i think orks dont need a reason, i mean their vehicles dnt even work they only believe they work so they actually do, if they had half a brain then they could put pieces of paper on the field and say they were battlewagons and it would actually work so honestly whats the point? there vehicles go fast because their red. I think orks are crazy.

Orkz work through trial and error actually, if they see two trukks and just happen to notice that the red one ends up going faster then the blue one, but can find no other difference (based on their logic) that the blue one is slower then the red. Then obviously the red one goes faster then the blue. Then because of the power of the Waaagh, in Ork hands the red one really does go faster. So taking a piece of paper and calling it a battlewagon isn't exactly orky, but yeah Nothing a Ork does or understands really translates well into how humans see things and seeing as they're pretty much telling the story of 40k there aren't perfect explanations for anything about them. |
