Tomb Kings aren't really my forte, but i shall give it a go if no-one else pitches in.

what have you got already? any models? do you have the army book?

the battalion is a good start if you are completely starting from scratch

Or the battle of skull pass starter set....everything you need to start and there is some cool dwarves and gobbo models in there. Good prices too. then you can expand the armies or change with a strong grip of the rules!

also, i meant to say earlier that with Tomb Kings you must also have a tomb king/prince and a liche priest, so those would be good for early purchases if you haven't got them already.

hey all im new to the forum but i happen to play tomb kings

they are definetely a finesse army, you do need at least one tomb king/prince and a liche priest of some kind, so playing khemri in under 1000 points is REALLY hard to do. the lowest game i ahve played was 1600 and it was hard. it becomes a decent army at 2k, i usually play 2250 and do ok with them. the real thing is the fear, if your enemy passes most of their ld test you will be in trouble, same as any other fear dependent army. i suggest you get 4+ ushabti in one unit, as any less is not enough. tomb guard are good but kind of expensive. their horsemen are anything but elite cavalry or knights, more of a speed bumb or harassment unit. the bone giant is good if you can get the charge and make enough attacks to keep the relentless assault going. the casket of souls is probably the one thing that your opponent will do w/e they can to stop. it has gone off once in one of my games and it went from me being massacred to the enemy getting a minor victory. the tomb king is powerful and can get a killing blow great weapon, that means 4 st 7 attacks that kill outright on 6s to wound. thats really all you need for a brief explanation, i will gladly explain more if you need me to.

Casket of Souls is freakin sweet! I loved this thing when I played the TK. ALl I did was incorperate as much magic as I could and seeing as how the Casket goes at the end of the magic phase if forces your opponet to A) save dice there fore allowing your other spells go through or B) waste there dice on your magic that goes off before the casket and then they cry when that bad boy slaps everything in there army!

As for the rest of the army. Chariots are awsome. Take a few small squads of the light ones and set up multiple charges in one turn and they can tear through the most hardened fighters. Personally I love the Ubshapti models, but game play wise I don't find them very usefull. They are expensive, very fragile, and unless you use them properly will get stomped on by anything over 20 models strong. They are good at getting those elite low number squads, but any bulk infantry unit can absorb their charge and then eventually beat them through shear numbers.

Their cav is pretty sweet. Fairly cheap and you can always refill them with the TK magic.

Hope that helps,
Servo

PS: if you need any more help feel free to just post here and we will do what we can

You could just make a new thread you know Biadetic :P.

But yeah I do have some tips, first off what sort of army are you going to do?
Themed? Power Gamer? Casual army?
And then further, Chariot maniac, Archer Madness, Lots of warriors. ?
Give further details then I can help more.
