good map! It could use a few more details, and mabye some water so we can fight over bridges (THAT would be really cool!).

Like what? ive done hive cities, space port, and mining facility. What Else can i do?

Also I have the ability to zoom in on each sector and render it in more detail. would this be a good idea to do this as well as the large map.

Infact, there could be sectors within the map, and each sector had 5 zones or something.

I personally think this is a great map for 3-6 players... Dunno about a grand campaign, or even how that would work on such a map. Like the Idea of an industial center. By that I mean like warehouses and production. You might have alreay included this in the hive cities but Adding a fuel pipline might be cool. It'd require you to capture several adjacent hex's. Plus, it could add a kind of bonus to your vehicles of some kind...

yeah, those could be off-table zones with great strategic importance, allowing deep strike and maybe orbital bombardments

Battles for Spaceports seem to happen frequently in 40k, so I think thats a good idea. Perhaps some reinforcement bonus though for it, to represent fresh forces landing.

Right, so in summary, I need to have on the map, a:

*Space Port
*Hive Cities
*Orbital Relay
*Planetery defence platform
*Mining Facility

All fitting in 30 Sectors.

other ideas could be:
  • a Mountian-top Monistary of strong religious significance(A saint came from there or something)
  • the planets Imperial Guard training camp
  • the site of an ancient ruined alien structure

I like spaceports, but for arguements sake, if I hold a space port for one "turn" then lose it, my renforcements can't even get to the planet. So how about, for every turn after your capture of your space port you may land ONE adintonal troop choice to reinforce any of your standing armies. Or something like that.

BTW, this idea is assuming you will have a list of units that you may or may not be able to use in one battle. (Like you have 10,000 points on the field, but are only able to use 1500 points in a battle). The cool thing about this idea is if a squad dies in combat, its gone, and your army just lost it, forever. It also brings up lots of more subtle tactics that make the game a lot more fun (and expesnive units and lot more elite).

yeah ithink it could use a bit of water, maybe like, a delta (geography term)
or even a few large rivers or!!!!!!or!!!!! a huge river that goes through the centre of the map with one big bridge to cross it!!!!

Here is the link to the Terragen program i used. There is quite an art to it.

Have fun with it.

Also, be patient with it, it can take ages to render sometimes.
