Cool System Planets

Ive made the images for each planet. I have added a little extra things that may help the Fluff Department. OK, here it is: (Total file size: 1MB)

You know the drill, tell me what you think..

Again, a fantastic job. Us at the Fluff Department were just mentioning perhaps adding a AdMech world onto there? That would add some extra purpose into the campaign, especially for the Necrons. Maybe some shadowy secret lurks under the planets surface... (ok, mysteriousness over)

well, if you look at the Lethe planet there is an "Unknown Structure". And also Phlegethon is a forge world.

Looks fantastic! FYI, I think the vessel you've identified as Eldar is an Imperial transport...

But this really looks splendid! GW quality! Better, even!

The ship is eldar, I just edited the image below:

ELDAR AURORA LIGHT CRUISERS

FUEL TRANSPORTS

I did try to do a more GW Style map this time. Also, the Unknown object is just a random triangle. Im sure the Fluff Department will think of something for it. Necron tomb maybe...

Ah, very good! I very much enjoy the blurry effect you gave it!

As for the triangle, I'm sure something could be made. There's all sorts of stuff in this crazy universe...

Necrons sound logical, as the planet looks pretty unihabitle thats normally where the necrons make their tomb worlds. I was also thinking that Necrons could be after something hidden deep in the forge world, something of unimaginable power (again to make their involvment more feasible, and to add a bit of mystery.

That could also give the eldar a reason to be in the system. They may need to stop the necrons, and so the C'tan from gaining the mysterious artifact. The Chaos want to create a rebellion. The Tyranids are a splinter fleet from Kraken or something, or even a new hive fleet. Forces of the Imperium obviously want to defend the system. The Orks just turn up for a fight, and i have no idea about the Tau.

Well, if we put the planets near to the Eastern fringe, Tau have a good reason to be there anyway, furthering the Greater Good. I really like the Eldar idea, thats great! We were saying on the Fluff development thread of the planet already being attacked by a splinter fleet, so it makes sense that they could have 'regrouped' (if 'nids do that), and as they sense more living creatures in the system to be devoured, have finally made their move.

Also, having a forgeworld in the system, along with the valuable stocks of promethium, would mean that the Imperium would be trying their upmost to get rid of the xeno and traitor threat, rather than just sending a few guys in (who are likely to fail) and then blowing up the main planet. This also means that we can include proper gaurd regiments (rather than pdf) and WH and DH as well, due to the extreme importance of the system. Orks don't need much explanation, perhaps the planets were struck by a Waagh! a while back and now the spores have finished developing in to full grown bad ass Orks. Have a small force of Orks invade as well on a rok or two and we've got us a nice Orky fight!

Well, we're making good progress already in the fluff department, as killermoose said, we have a reason for just about everyone to fight.

Ok, i have tried, but cant make a flat map of any of the planets. I have drawn on the sectors for each planet though, and you can clearly see what is land, and what is sea. Images Below:

I hope this will help the Fluff, and also show what the planet maps are going to be like. I decided that this DoW style map would be better, and simpler.

much obliged thanks.
ok so Acheron is a day whose days are as long as years, and the dark side of the planet uninhabited! that explains the, lack of another side ~(im joking)

And look pretty damn good too! Though the fact that the planets are one sided does worry me a little. Meh, we can just fight over one side.

Well I could not replicate the maps so they looked good in 2D. Its only a representation of progress within the campaign.

dont worry - youve done more than enough as it is. Im trying to cut and paste the maps to the word doc im creating for the campaign.

perhaps we could get a proper site up for it rather than a post in the forum? that would be cool. ill probably end up with enough stuff for it, especially with all the background being written for regiments etc! maybe we could get some talented people to draw/apint up some artwork for the regiments/chapters involved

Im not sure about the artwork, But i could have a go at the campaign site. Im sure Ikarus may be able to help also.

By the way, artwork takes along time, and 40K related work is very hard to do.

Well, the first Earth like planet, the ringed planet and the bottom brownish planet I found on the internet. The Orange planet is a picture of some clouds that I edited to make a planet. The snow planet is actually a photo of mars that I edited.

The acutal final versions of the images can be found in the campaign site;
http://www.40kterra.com/campaign/index.html
Click on one of the planet pictures on the front page, and it will show information about it.
