| Ok, so i was reading my old guard codex and noticed alot of awkward things that may hinter the imperials victory, For instance Blue grenades....Who uses blue grenades, as well as red lasguns..Thats almost as dumb as WHITE ARMOUR...did the humans lose all use of camouflage? ![]() |

| Perhaps its the fact that the codex is "old". As far as I know, frag grenades are not blue. And lasguns aren't red, though perhaps they do shoot red light (this itself is debatable).

| Plisken I am certain as a fairly experienced inquisitor that faith is your shield. I have read, and I believe you will find a various quote perhaps in the IG codex or the Armored Divisions release pertaining to the fact that camoflauge is not a necessity with the Emporer's grace protecting you. (Or is it in the rulebook? Hrmmm)Anyways with that glory in life and honor in death stuff you guardsmen are always going on about I don't know why your worried about the practicallity of camo. Unless you've suddenly found it "glorious" to hide and shoot from covor. Whatever. I'll let you in on a secret though. On some planets its just cheaper to paint lasguns with red, grenades with blue, and uniforms with white. Hope you don't get conscripted there. Good luck! |

| Meh, they're Gaurdsmen. It's not like their gonna live long anyway. White may be useful on some ice planets, but red lasguns and blue grenade are silly ideas. Perhaps the admech making them decided to experiment with more colours? I'm sure the Machine God loves variation (or not!)

| read the mordian fluff for why they dont use camo. the mordians are on a world that doesnt spin. so while one side is in eternal darkness, the other side is baking. they wear the brightly colored uniforms to make their opponents think they are fighting weaklings however behind that fancy smancy blue uniform is a har as nails guardsmen. besides dont diss the moridan they are the only model that can do the US Marines in dress blue uniforms out there.

| Um. White uniform, 'cause it's a crisp pain in the butt color that is difficult to keep up, so if they look good, you know they're disciplined in that. Red lasguns because the Ad Mech's color is red. Look at the old space marine bolters. Those were red too in a lot of cases. Ultramarines particularly. Even now, they still do it from time to time. Blue grenades. Nobody paints their grenades blue. They paint other stuff blue... Or at least, that's what the enemy thinks when a blue cylinder lands next to them. Another theory could be that blue grenades are easily seen, against white uniforms, so when looting your dead comrade in a siege, you can pull his gun and grenades without having to search for the camo grenades against the camo armor over camo clothing... |

| well my first response about the mordians was to dan who had taken it upon himself to insult the mordians and the 2 squads i have within my army right now painted as US Marines. the color blue can mean so many things to so many different cultures. on tallaran i believe that water is very important and in real war grenades are a god send. so hey lets throw this explosive at the enemy and watch the destruction. also the color of metals/plastics can differ from planet to planet. maybe the resources the tallarans use to make their grenades come out blue. or maybe its just to get you to notice the grenades.

| Conscript ![]() | well, regardin uniform colours, all we need to look at are real world armies over the years. napolenoic forces in particular and british Redcoats. it all depends on the culture, i guess. 40k is a strange place. imagine the real world in the 18th century, where a spaceship lands and incorporates us into a distant space empire. well be left largely to govern ourselves and given all these super sci-fi modern equipment (lasguns, carapace armour, tanks!) but for all this tech our culture would remian 18th century (for a while). thats what i figure imperial guard armies with bright colours are like. now, red weapons... thats just an unfortunate remnant of the GW rainbow era where all models had to have a mandatory 5% surface area covered in blood red. with mariens it was mostly weapons! :P |

| Yeah back in the day we had to color our lasguns red and our grenades blue to go with our stylish goblin green base with the sunburst yellow highlights. It's like talking to people who used to wear a mullet in the 80's; don't bring it up it's just embarassing for us. Although I do feel that the vortex grenade whould have been a blue color. Ahh the vortex grenade.
